How much power does a blog have? I’ve been blogging for a couple of years now but it’s not like I’ve changed the world or anything. Most of the posts that I’ve written about are from personal experience. If one of my readers can benefit from that then that’s good. I’m glad I was able to help. So far, I haven’t had anyone complain about anything yet. That might be due to the fact that most of my readers are my friends and their views are similar to mine. But from my experience, I’ve seen a lot of blogs reaching out to their readers and making an impact so blogging definitely does something. It could potentially change the world.
Blog Action Day is hoping to achieve just that. On one day, bloggers around the world will talk about one topic. “What would happen if every blog published posts discussing the same issue, on the same day?” is the question that they posed. It’s an interesting question to pose and it sounds like the answer will have a big impact. It’s like getting one person in a small town to say a few words about something. Even if the audience is a big number, the word is getting out and being spread.
This year’s topic will be about the environment. Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of the environment in the papers. Every now and then, they’ll be something about how much pollution is in the air, how people are trying to cut back, tips on saving energy, you name it. If it has something to do with the environment, the papers will have it.
So, on October 15, I’ll be throwing in my two cents about the environment. I do what I can for the environment and I know I can do more. From now until then, I’ll be recycling when I can, walking to and from work if the weather permits and conserving energy.
