There are a lot of cool little web applications coming out. Most of them do a wide variety of things while others are focused on one thing. I came across a site that would take your pictures and turn them into a mosaic image. I didn’t have much to do today so I upload a couple of pictures to see how it would turn out. To my surprise, the result were pretty good. You have to stand about fifteen meters from the monitor to see the image. And from fifteen meters, it looks very close to my original image.
Here’s my current MSN display picture. It’s a picture of me leaning against a wall.
This is what the original looks like. If you step back from the monitor, you should see something like this. If you click on the mosaic, you’ll see the smaller pictures that make up the mosaic. I think there’s about one thousand smaller images that makes up the mosaic but I don’t have all night to count every single one.
I was still bored so I uploaded another picture for the site to turn into a mosaic. This time, I chose a darker picture. And again, the site product a mosaic that looked pretty amazing. Up close, it looks nothing like me but start moving back and you’ll start to see an image come into focus.
Here’s the second original image. This image is receiving close to two thousand views in the Photoblog. I’m not sure why a lot of people viewing it since it’s just a picture of me in the rain. I guess some people fine that hot.
