As of 6:30am, I am home alone because the family headed up north for the long weekend. They get to have fun for the next few days while I’m stuck in town because I have to work the weekend. No long weekend for me. I can’t remember the last time I actually got the chance to do anything. Work has always been a ball and chain for me. I can’t ask for time off either because I just started. It wouldn’t look good if I asked for vacation time when I’ve only been with the company for a couple of months.
I guess it’ll be nice to get some peace and quiet around here. It’s usually quiet around the house anyways. By the time I get home from work, everyone is sleeping. And by the time I wake up, I had to head back to work. So I don’t get to spend too much time with the family. I hardly see my dad because of our work schedule. He works 7am – 3pm and I work 3pm – 11pm. By the time I get home, he’s fast asleep. By the time I wake up, he’s already gone to work. By the time he gets home, I’ve already gone to work. So, it’s rare that my father and I talk. I work on the weekend too so even that I hardly see him. But we get a chance to talk during the odd times.
Well, while the family is away on vacation, I’ll be spending the majority of my time at home. I’m thinking of heading to Best Buy to check out the Nikon D50. Right now, I’m debating whether I should buy it now or wait a while. The Nikon D80 is going to be announced in a few days. Since that’s the higher model, I’m thinking that the D50 will drop in price. Currently, Best Buy is selling it for $823.99. The last time I wrote about the camera, the price was at $849.99. There’s a $26 instant saving but it’s only good for online orders. The online shop is currently out of stock. If I was able to order it online I would save an additional $50. I can’t order it online because they are out of stock and I can’t order it online and then pick it up at the store because that will void the $50 discount. The store in Burlington has that camera in stock but it’s a bit more expensive to buy it from the store. So I think I’m just going to go there and check it out.
Other than that, I’ve got a few other errands to run as well. It’s rare that I get a day off during the weekday so I’ll have to make the most of it. I’ve been meaning to go into a Royal Bank branch and asking them to stop taking money from my account and depositing it into my RRSP. That RRSP account has enough in it and I’m working on building another one. Right now, I have nothing else better to do with my money than to save it so I’m hoping that it’ll be financially stable in the future.
A while back, I opened up another RRSP account but with ING Direct. They’re really good for interest earning accounts. There are no service charges or nothing. You can move the money freely from one account to the other. The only drawback is that you have to wait a while before the funds are electronically transferred to your main account. They offer client debit cards but it’s hard to find an actual ING Direct ATM anywhere in town. And their cards don’t work with just any ATM machine. It’s a good to way to save money because if you get the urge to withdraw it, you have to wait a few days to get it. I don’t have any complaints with ING Direct right now. Every penny that I’ve deposited into that account has earned me a lot of interests. At least, a lot more than what I’ve earned with RBC. With some banks, you need to have a certain amount in your account before your money starts to earn you any interests.
Whoa, this blog went totally off topic. I went from talking about the long weekend to money. Oh well, it’s something for you to read while you’re bored, eh? Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend. Weatherman Don calls for nothing but sunshine, partly cloudy, a high of 30 degrees Celsius and a low of 15 degrees Celsius. If you’re bored, I’ve got the whole house to myself. Maybe someone will throw a private party. Ladies free before 11!
