I don’t know what is happening to the phone system at work but my cell phone has been ringing off the hook since I got home. I’m not sure if I cancelled call forwarding or not but it appears as if all the Tech Support calls are being redirected to my phone. Turning off my cell phone would help but I’m going use that as a last resort if this issue doesn’t get fixed. I didn’t get my cell phone to have it turned off all day.
Last night, I was the only one in the office so I had to listen for the phone. During my break I would forward all the calls going to Tech Support to my cell phone. This way, I can be out of the building and not miss a call. That wasn’t too bad because there weren’t any calls. But sometimes when I get back in the office, I would forget to cancel call forwarding. The Tech Support line would ring a couple times and then it would hang up. Seconds later, my phone would start ringing. So when I pick up, I’m being charged roaming because I’m not from Mississauga. I have 1000 evening and weekend minutes so that’s not a big problem. It’s the roaming charges that usually gets you.
The problem is that I’m getting the calls from Tech Support. If I call the number that the calls are being forwarded from, it goes to Tech Support. So other people are calling Tech Support and it’s coming to me. But when I call Tech Support, it goes to Tech Support. I don’t know what the problem is. In the last five minutes, I have fifteen missed calls from that line. As I’m typing it, the calls haven’t stopped. They’re coming in at two minutes intervals.
When I got back into the office after my break, I’m pretty sure I cancelled the call forwarding feature. I remember because I received a phone call from someone but right after that call, I went to cancel that option. Also, when I tried calling the Tech Support line, my phone didn’t ring, the phone in the office rang. That also shows that the feature has been cancelled. Yet I am constantly getting bombarded with these calls.
One time, the calls came in short intervals, so I thought maybe my coworker was trying to get a hold of me. I picked up and it was some Chinese lady. She asked what she dialed so I gave her my phone number. I wasn’t even finished saying my area code when she said it was the wrong number. I don’t even know why she bothered asking. My area code and the Tech Support line’s area code are the same.
I had to resort to turning off my cell phone because I was trying to get some sleep. But when I woke up, I turned my phone back on. It wasn’t even one for a second before I started getting calls again. I had to call my coworker and ask him to reset the call forwarding feature. The thing is, if call forwarding was enabled, my call should have been redirected to my own phone but it didn’t. My call went straight to Tech Support. My coworker said he would check up on it. Right now, it has gotten a little quieter. The phone calls have stopped. But I don’t know for how long. So if anyone is trying to call me, I would suggest you call back after six because in the meantime, I’m planning on turing off my phone. And I don’t have voicemail activated yet so you can’t leave a message. Ha ha!
