The next chapter of my life

Today is the big day. It is the day that I join the rest of my classmates and become another graudate of Mohawk College. It is another step closer towards the goal I’ve set for myself. A lifelong goal that has yet to be reached. I am very proud to have accomplished what I was set to do. So ends one chapter of my life and the next chapter begins.

Chapter one started when my family immigrated from Thailand. My mother and father left everything behind to start a new life in a new world. A life that I am always grateful for. I am grateful that they have given me and my brothers the opportunity to live a life that not many people have. I think my quality of life couldn’t be any better any other way.

Chapter two started after I completed high school and started college in pursuit of my career. Throught my life, my father tried to pursuade me to become a mechanic. It is every father’s dream to have their sons follow in their footsteps. It sadden me very much when I saw the look on my father’s face when I told him my decision to go into computers. I didn’t want to take that path but it was what I was good at and it was what I enjoyed doing. But in the end, my father supported my decision, only to let me hear about it when my car needed fixing.

So, I guess this bring us to chapter three. The chapter where I start searching for a real job. Not that being a security guard isn’t a job or anything, but I don’t think it’s something I’d be doing for the long run. I’m at that age where I should be starting my career. Time’s running and it waits for no one. I’ve seen somewhere, an interesting theory about time. It said, that time is not a contant. It sort of make sense to me now, looking at time as something else other than a contant. It sure does explain those times during class that seem to stand still. Or those time when you’re having fun and all of a sudden, it’s over. All this can be explained by Einstein’s theory of general relativity. Because we’re moving around a lot, we’re moving closer to the speed of light than we are if we were standing still. Einstein discovered that the closer you are to the speed of light, the slower time goes.

Anyways, with all the technical stuff aside, time is something that is measure differently by everyone. We are all time travellers. Time is something that accompanies us on our journey through life. It reminds us to cherish each moment because those precious moments maybe not happen again. So make every second count.
